Common questions about BGLiD setup, verification, and troubleshooting in Firm Verify
Questions in this article
What causes a GOV ID or PEP/Sanctions check to fail?
GOV ID failure
A GOV ID check fails when the details provided by the contact do not match the records held by the issuing authority. The issuer varies by document type:
| Document type | Issuing authority |
|---|---|
| Passport (any registered passport) | Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) |
| Driver's Licence | State or territory road authority (e.g. Transport for NSW, VicRoads, TMR Queensland) |
PEP/Sanctions failure
A PEP or Sanctions result is triggered when there is evidence linking the contact to a Politically Exposed Person (PEP), sanctions list, or adverse AML media. This is based on name-matching against external databases and can produce false positives for common names. See the related article on manually overriding a PEP/Sanctions result if you have confirmed the match is a false positive.
What ID types are currently accepted?
The following document types are currently supported by BGLiD:
Australia
| Document | Notes |
|---|---|
| Australian Passport | Must be current. |
| Australian Driver's Licence | Physical card only. Light vehicle (class C) licences only. |
| Foreign passport registered with the Australian Government | Contact must hold a current Australian visa. See the Supported Identification article for details. |
| Australian Medicare Card | Secondary document only. Must be selected alongside an Australian Passport or Driver's Licence. |
Other jurisdictions
| Document | Jurisdiction |
|---|---|
| NZ Driver's Licence | New Zealand |
| National Registration Identity Card (NRIC) | Singapore |
Are ID details stored in CAS360?
Sending a BGLiD verification request does not automatically import ID details into CAS360. The only identification details stored in CAS360 by default are those entered manually.
Once a verification has been completed, those manually entered details can be removed.
If you want ID information to flow through from BGLiD into CAS360, you need to enable the Request to store ID option when sending the request. The contact must also provide their consent for this to occur.
For full details on that process, see Request to Store ID Documents with BGLiD.
Does FrankieOne store verification data?
Yes. FrankieOne (the verification provider behind BGLiD) retains data from successfully completed verifications for one month. After that period, the data is deleted from their systems.
Does CAS360 show why an ID check failed?
Not in detail. FrankieOne provides a verification document showing the outcome, but the specific reason for a GOV ID failure is not returned to CAS360.
PEP/Sanctions results are an exception — because that information is publicly available, the details of any match are displayed in the Compliance tab. For guidance on reviewing and overriding a PEP/Sanctions result, see the related article.
How long before a BGLiD verification link expires?
Verification links expire 21 days after the request is sent. If a contact tries to open the link after that window, it will no longer work.
CAS360 will display a notification when a link has expired. To restart the process, resend the BGLiD request from the contact's record. Note that a new fee will apply.
