Real-time in-app alerts for key events in your AML/CTF workflow.
Overview
The bell icon in the top navigation bar gives all users real-time in-app notifications for key events in the AML/CTF workflow. When you have unread notifications, a red badge showing the exact count appears on the bell. Clicking the bell opens the notification dropdown panel.
Notifications are broadcast to all active users in your firm — there is no per-user targeting in the initial phase.
The notification panel
The dropdown has two tabs:
Both tabs include a search bar — type any text to filter notifications in real time. If no notifications match, the list shows "No results found."
Empty states
- No notifications at all — both tabs show "No notifications yet."
- Read notifications exist but none unread — Unread tab shows "You're all caught up."
Managing read state
Read state is per-user — marking a notification as read only affects your own view.
Notification events and messages
Six events trigger notifications. All are sent to every active user in your firm.
[Document name] sent for review
"[Document name]" has been submitted for review by [Submitter's name].
Triggered when any user submits a Risk Assessment, Policy, or Process for review.
Review cancelled — [Document name]
"[Document name]" review has been cancelled by [Canceller's name]. No further action is required at this time.
Triggered when an active review is cancelled by any user.

Triggered when a reviewer approves a submitted document.
[Document name] rejected
"[Document name]" was rejected by [Reviewer's name] on [DD/MM/YYYY].
Triggered when a reviewer rejects a submitted document.
Suspicious file detected
"[File name]" has been flagged as suspicious.
Triggered after virus scanning flags a file upload. Informational only — no automated action is taken. Investigate the file directly.
Email failed
The system was unable to send an email to [recipient email]. Please check the recipient's email address and retry.
Triggered when an outbound email fails after all retries are exhausted. Covers emails to both firm users and external contacts.
The recipient email address is always masked — for example, a*****@example.com.
Timestamps
Each notification shows an absolute timestamp in your local time: Received: DD MMM YYYY at HH:MM AM/PM. For example: Received: 26 Jun 2026 at 2:45 PM.
Frequently asked questions
Can I turn off notifications for specific events?
Not yet. All events are broadcast to all active firm users. Per-user preferences are planned for a later phase.
Will I receive notifications by email?
Not at this stage — notifications are in-app only. The Send for Review email that goes to the nominated reviewer is a separate workflow and not part of the Notifications system.
Does the person who triggered an event also receive the notification?
Yes. The actor who triggers an event receives the same notification as all other active firm users. There is no self-exclusion.
Why didn't I receive a notification?
Notifications are only delivered to active firm users. If your account has been deactivated you will not receive them. Use the Feedback button in the top navigation bar to report any issues to the BGL team.
